Dr. Michelle Murray Fiertek is a soprano and voice faculty member at The Hartt School, University of Hartford, where she also serves as Director of Community Programs. She is an active performer and teacher of wide-ranging styles from traditional classical repertoire to contemporary musical theater and pop/rock. With a DMA in Vocal Performance and MM in Voice Performance from The Hartt School, she brings extensive professional experience to her teaching. Fiertek received the University of Hartford Sustained Excellence in Teaching Award (2018) for her work in the vocal studies division. She specializes in Spanish and Latin American art song, having studied interpretation under renowned mezzo-soprano Teresa Berganza. Her soprano career spans intimate art song to grand opera productions, with performances at Carnegie Hall and nominations for Best Featured Actress in a Musical Production by Broadway World Connecticut. She is certified to teach the Rock the Audition (RTA) curriculum and serves on the Hartford Opera Theater board.
