Michelle McIntire

About

Michelle McIntire is a dedicated voice instructor and piano teacher with over 35 years of professional teaching experience. She is the founder and director of McIntire Music Studios, serving the Rochester and surrounding Western New York region including the Buffalo-Amherst area. Michelle holds impressive academic credentials including a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from Ithaca College, a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), and a Bachelor of Music in Voice from Florida Southern College. She has been a dedicated voice educator since 1989, teaching students of all ages and backgrounds, from young children to retirees, and working with both gifted students and those with special learning needs. In addition to college and high school students, she has significant experience teaching beginners through advanced adult students. Michelle has maintained active professional affiliations with the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), where she served as President of the Kansas City area chapter, and with SECO (business training for voice teachers). Her teaching philosophy is grounded in core values of "expression, honesty, diligence, commitment, fearlessness, and, above all, love." Michelle has also served as music director for community theater productions in the Kansas City area and surrounding regions. Despite experiencing significant health challenges, including a stroke in November 2019, Michelle has recovered her ability to sing, speak, and play piano, and continues to teach with passion and dedication. Her core belief that "everyone can learn how to sing" and improve their technique through dedicated instruction guides her pedagogical approach with every student.
