Michael Ya. is an experienced music teacher in Saratoga Springs, NY with over 30 years of musical experience in the Capital Region. He specializes in American and Celtic folk music, including folk music from the Civil War era, in the style of Tommy Makem, Bill Staines, and Pete Seeger. With an extensive background in performing on singing, guitar, and banjo, Michael brings authentic folk traditions to his teaching practice. He holds a Master's degree in Education and offers private vocal lessons alongside guitar, keyboard/piano, and songwriting instruction. Michael is available for both in-home and webcam instruction, willingly traveling up to 20 miles to serve students throughout the Saratoga Springs and Capital Region area. His deep roots in the community and comprehensive musical knowledge make him an ideal instructor for students interested in folk traditions and acoustic music.
