Michael Hadary
About
Michael Hadary is a Lecturer in Voice at James Madison University's School of Music in Harrisonburg, Virginia. With an MFA in Theatre from Penn State University and extensive professional experience as a vocal instructor and coach, Hadary brings both academic rigor and practical industry expertise to his teaching. He holds a Master of Music from NYU Steinhardt School of Music and a Bachelor of Music from James Madison University, where he studied classical voice with Sonya Baker and musical theatre with John Bell. His graduate studies at Penn State included training with renowned vocal pedagogues Mary Saunders-Barton, Norman Spivey, Raymond Sage, and Andrew Belser. As a professional vocal coach, Hadary has worked extensively in New York City, Chicago, and Orlando, coaching performers from Broadway and touring productions, and has collaborated with Grammy-winning artist Chandrika Tandon and Broadway performer Linda Eder. With Actor's Equity membership, he has performed in New York City productions and regional theater. At JMU, his courses include private voice instruction, group voice, song interpretation, musical theatre repertoire, musical theatre history, and production direction. He previously taught at the University of Georgia, Valdosta State University, and Lebanon Valley College, and established a summer field study program connecting students with Broadway professionals in New York City.
