Melinda Brou
About
Dr. Melinda Brou is a soprano and Professor of Voice and Opera Workshop at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. She holds degrees including a BM from Southwestern University, MM from University of Colorado, and DMA from University of Texas at Austin. She directs the TAMUK Opera Workshop and has produced several major operatic works including Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and The Magic Flute, as well as works by Puccini and Gilbert & Sullivan. Dr. Brou is a soloist with Austin Lyric Opera for outreach and educational programming and is co-founder of the Advanced Summer Vocal Workshop. She is an active performer with the Rhapsodies Trio, a national touring ensemble featuring flute, voice, and piano. She serves as District Governor for the South Texas District of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and is a Board of Control member for the Texoma Region of NATS. She is an active conference presenter and lecturer, having presented at the National Opera Association, National Flute Association, NATS Texoma, and Texas Music Educators Association conferences. Her expertise spans vocal instruction, operatic performance, and music education, and she brings a comprehensive approach to developing singers at all levels.
