Meghan DeWald Althouse is an Adjunct Professor of Voice and Voice Area Coordinator at Duquesne University's Mary Pappert School of Music, where she directs the applied voice program for undergraduate and graduate students. A soprano with an active performance career in the Pittsburgh area, she has recently performed major operatic roles including Barbarina in the Student Matinee of Pittsburgh Opera's Le nozze di Figaro in November 2022, and Iris in Pittsburgh Opera's acclaimed production of Semele in May 2021. Based in the Pittsburgh area, she is a favorite of regional opera companies including Pittsburgh Opera and Pittsburgh Festival Opera. Beyond her vocal and teaching talents, DeWald Althouse is a 200-hour certified yoga instructor, bringing a holistic approach to voice training that integrates body awareness with vocal technique. This unique combination of classical voice training with yoga and somatic practices allows her to help students develop comprehensive vocal and physical awareness. Her passion for both singing and mentorship makes her an invaluable educator for aspiring singers seeking professional development in classical voice, opera, and contemporary vocal arts.
