Matthew Potterton
About
Dr. Matthew Potterton is a Professor of Music and Chair of the Music Department at East Tennessee State University, where he is beginning his tenth year. He conducts Greyscale and teaches voice to students of all levels. Dr. Potterton brings extensive teaching experience spanning elementary through university levels at institutions including Baker University, UC Irvine, Carroll College, and Colorado University. Under his direction, ETSU Chorale achieved significant recognition, competing at Wales' Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in 2019 and winning the Grand Prix at the 2022 Bratislava competition. The choir has toured California, Illinois, New York, and internationally. As a tenor soloist, Dr. Potterton performs in operatic and classical music productions, including roles in The Magic Flute, Die Fledermaus, and Sweeney Todd.

Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Music Literature and Performance from University of Colorado Boulder; Master of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting from University of California, Irvine
