Matthew Hayward

Matthew Hayward is an award-winning lyric baritone and co-founder of VOXnorthwest Voice Studio, Portland's boutique vocal training studio dedicated to expert vocal coaching where artistry meets authenticity. With a 25+ year performance career, Matthew has sung leading roles at major opera houses and appeared with orchestras and in concert halls throughout the United States and Europe. A winner of the Gerard Souzay-Grand Concours de Chant, he made his European debut in concert at the Salle Cortot in Paris, France. Matthew has created roles for new musicals and appeared at Portland Opera, Michigan Opera Theater, Opera New Jersey, Baltimore Opera, Opera Idaho, Opera Theater of Oregon, Astoria Music Festival, and Aspen Music Festival. He serves on the voice faculty of Portland State University and George Fox University, and has taught at Summer Music in Tuscany. Matthew co-founded VOXnorthwest with fellow soprano Angela Niederloh, bringing extensive performance experience and teaching background to their studio's programs.

Education & Qualifications

Undergraduate and graduate music studies at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
