Mathilda Edge is a lyric dramatic soprano and Assistant Professor of Voice at Oberlin College & Conservatory. Described by the Chicago Tribune as a 'vocal tour de force,' she has performed with major opera companies including Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and at Chicago Symphony Center. Edge is a 2019 Sara Tucker Study Grant recipient from the Richard Tucker Foundation and was a top finisher in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Houston Grand Opera's Eleanor McCollum Competition, and the Washington International Competition for Voice. Prior to joining Oberlin in 2022, she served in the Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago and was a professor of voice at the University of Northern Colorado and Indiana State University. She is originally from Chandlerville, Illinois.

Education & Qualifications

Master's Degree in Vocal Performance from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, Bachelor of Science in Management and Organizational Leadership & Music from Illinois College. Training at Ryan Opera Center (Lyric Opera of Chicago), Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program, and Merola Opera Program (San Francisco Opera). Principal teachers: Julia Faulkner, Brian Horne, and Addie Gramelspacher.
