Mary Jane Knight is a vocal artist, vocal coach, composer, and sacred space holder based in Iowa City. She grew up in small-town Iowa as the daughter of a preacher and teacher, singing solos and playing piano in church and community settings. In high school, she performed throughout Iowa including at the governor's mansion and the Iowa House of Representatives. As a professional singer, she has appeared with opera companies across the Midwest including Opera Memphis, Opera Cedar Rapids, Opera Quad Cities, Opera Omaha, Des Moines Metro Opera, and more. With over 25 years of teaching experience, Mary Jane has taught private voice and piano, early childhood music, children's and adult church music ensembles, musicals and workshops, secondary vocal music, and collegiate voice at the University of Memphis and Kirkwood College. She currently teaches exclusively in her studio Knightingale Voice in Iowa City, where she offers voice sessions, vocal empowerment workshops, and hosts an online community Voices of Healing. She released her first album 'Rising Free: A Journey of Healing' in March 2025.

Education & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in vocal music education from Simpson College. Master's in vocal performance from the University of Nebraska.
