Mary Eason Fletcher
About
Mary Eason Fletcher is an accomplished instructor of voice at the College of William & Mary, where she has taught approximately 50 students each semester, ranging from complete beginners to highly-skilled vocalists. With an extensive background in classical vocal training, Fletcher studied voice at Northwestern University under Vergene Miller, Boston University with Robert Gartside and Allen Rogers, and Boston Conservatory of Music with Iride Pilla and John Moriarty. She completed opera training at Colorado Opera Festival and the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, with additional studies in France with Gerard Souzay and in Germany with Horst Gunther. Her early musical foundation came from Salem Academy and Salem College School of Music. As a soprano performer, she has performed extensively in recitals, opera, oratorio, and chamber music both locally and internationally, including engagements with the York River Symphony and Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Her students have advanced to prestigious graduate programs including Manhattan School of Music, Juilliard School, and Peabody Conservatory. She previously served as the colleges first Director of Applied Music for eight years and has coordinated master classes with renowned vocal artists.
