Dr. Mark Wilkinson is one of Canada's leading baritone soloists and voice pedagogues, with a distinctive ability to rehabilitate and develop both professional and aspiring voice users. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice Performance from The Ohio State University and a specialized Certificate in Singing Health from Ohio State's interdisciplinary collaboration between music, speech and hearing science, and otalaryngology departments. With an accomplished performance career across North America and Europe, Dr. Wilkinson has been heard on CBC national radio and has performed with prestigious organizations including Ottawa Chamberfest, the Edmonton Symphony, Music and Beyond, and the Ottawa Writers Festival. His teaching approach is grounded in educational psychology, learning theory, and neuroscience, integrating multiple disciplines including physiology, linguistics, and acoustics to help students understand the human being behind the voice. As a clinical voice specialist, he works at the Ottawa Voice and Swallowing Clinic. Dr. Wilkinson teaches at The Bytown School of Singing and believes that singing should be joyful and engaging for all students.
