Mark Whatley
About
Mark Whatley is Coordinator of Classical Voice and Professor of Music at Belmont University's College of Music and Performing Arts. He is a professional baritone with extensive operatic experience, having won first place in the Metropolitan Opera mid-south regional auditions in 2002, earning recognition as one of nine national finalists. He performed in concert with the Metropolitan Opera orchestra under the direction of Julius Rudel. Throughout his career, he has sung over forty operatic roles in works by Mozart, Puccini, Donizetti, Bizet, and Richard Strauss, among others, with an extensive concert repertoire including major works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Haydn, and Handel. As an educator, Mark coordinates both graduate and undergraduate vocal performance degrees at Belmont and has been instrumental in shaping the classical voice program.
