Marieke Schuurs is a certified Alexander Technique instructor and vocologist specializing in voice training from an organic, holistic perspective. She holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Fine Arts from UC Irvine and has been licensed as an Alexander Technique educator since 2006. Marieke is a long-standing member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), where she has served as NW Regional Governor and National Board Member. She teaches voice at Harmony Roadhouse in Eugene and conducts workshops throughout Oregon. Her approach emphasizes the performer's overall balance and coordination, integrating Alexander Technique with vocal pedagogy. She specializes in vocal rehabilitation and works collaboratively with speech-language pathologists and laryngologists. Marieke has also taught voice at Concordia University in Irvine and Lane Community College in Eugene. With her unique background in somatic education and voice, she brings a comprehensive understanding of the mind-body connection to vocal training. She enjoys performing both classical and jazz music, and has sung with Eugene Opera and her own jazz ensemble.
