Maria Goodrich joined the Community Music School of Buffalo faculty in 1995 and has served as chair of the Voice Department since 2009. With over three decades of teaching experience at CMS, she teaches private voice lessons and a variety of classes for children, teens, and adults. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in vocal performance with a concentration in vocal pedagogy from SUNY Buffalo, bringing comprehensive training to her teaching practice. Before joining CMS, she was a faculty member at Mid-Michigan Community College and Central Michigan University, where she taught private voice and other related subjects. In addition to her role as voice department chair, she teaches individual vocal lessons, Totally Tween, and Legends of Music classes. Maria has developed notable students throughout her career, including Jacob Artist who played "Jake" on the FoxTV show "Glee". Her teaching encompasses a wide range of styles and age groups, from young beginners to advanced adult singers, with expertise in healthy vocal technique, performance preparation, and musical theater. As a mezzo-soprano herself, she brings professional performance experience to her pedagogy, helping students develop both technical excellence and artistic expression across multiple genres.
