Marcía Porter
About
Marcía Porter is an award-winning soprano and Professor of Voice at Florida State University's College of Music, where she coordinates the Voice and Opera program. She is widely recognized as a much sought-after clinician and educator who has presented masterclasses throughout the mid-western and southeastern United States. Porter made her New York solo recital debut in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 2005, establishing herself as a distinguished concert and operatic artist. Throughout her career, she has performed with prestigious companies including the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Chautauqua Opera, Dayton Opera, and Chicago Opera Theatre. As a Fulbright Scholar and Rotary International Cultural Ambassadorial Scholar, Porter conducted research in Brazil during 2011-2012, where she presented recitals, lectures, and masterclasses throughout the country, focusing on bridging boundaries through musical collaboration and cultural exchange. She is a 2004 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Artist Award Competition winner. Her discography includes a 2011 recording of Requiem für Mozart and a 2013 album of contemporary American vocal works. At FSU, Porter is dedicated to developing the next generation of professional singers and vocal educators, combining her extensive performance experience with a student-centered teaching philosophy that emphasizes individual growth and artistic excellence.
