Marc Abbott is a Verdi Baritone and Faculty Associate in Voice at Utah State University. He grew up singing in church choirs in Phoenix, Arizona, and successfully auditioned for the West Point Glee Club while attending the United States Military Academy, where he performed at venues including Lincoln Center. He graduated from the Academy with a Bachelor of Science in 2009 and received a commission as an officer in the United States Army. After military service and relocating to the DC area, he pursued formal voice training beginning in 2013 with the American Center for Puccini Studies, studying privately for 7 years where he discovered his love for opera and developed his impressive and powerful voice. Marc has performed in numerous operatic productions and recently sang the role of Schaunard in Puccini's La bohรจme with Lyrical Opera Theatre of Taylorsville, Utah. He moved to Utah in 2021 and currently teaches voice as an associate instructor at Utah State University and privately through JM Abbott Music. He is engaged to perform as Escamillo in Bizet's Carmen.
