Lynn Kao
About
Lynn Kao is an acclaimed Asian American conductor, vocal coach, pianist, and voice faculty member at The Hartt School, University of Hartford, where she also serves as Music Director of Opera Productions. Her international career spans performance and collaboration at major European opera houses including the Berlin Opera, Frankfurt Opera, Wiesbaden Opera, Bayreuth Festival Theater, and Teatro alla Scala. Kao has collaborated with renowned musicians such as Brigitte Fassbander, Daniel Barenboim, Janos Starker, Josef Gingold, and Maria Kliegel. She holds an MM/AD from Indiana University and the Cologne School of Music in Germany, and a BM from Indiana University. Professional recognition includes winning the Sir George Solti International Conducting Competition and the audience award at the Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition. Since 2018, she has served as guest conductor of the Gyumri State Symphony Orchestra in Armenia. Kao teaches voice, coaches singers, directs opera productions, and brings world-class artistry to all her students.
