About
Lucy Hayes Davis is a mezzo-soprano who calls Halifax home after returning to Nova Scotia in 2007 following completion of her Masters degree at Westminster Choir College, where she pursued intensive voice pedagogy studies with Dr. Scott McCoy and Marvin Keenze. She went on to further operatic studies at the Hartt School, joining the voice faculty there in 2001 before establishing Davis Vocal Studios in Halifax with her husband, tenor Jason Davis. Lucy has taught voice at Dalhousie and Acadia Universities as well as Lyric Diction, Voice Pedagogy and Voice Clinics for students in the Dalhousie acting program, bringing her extensive pedagogical training to multiple institutions across Nova Scotia. She acts as music director for the Elementary and Junior Broadway Company Players, vocal coach for the Halifax Summer Opera Festival, and vocal instructor for Opera from Scratch, demonstrating her commitment to developing singers at all levels. Their vocal studio foundations are built on bel canto principles learned during professional operatic training, emphasizing healthy vocal technique that serves singers across all genres. Lucy's combination of advanced pedagogical training, professional performance experience, and diverse teaching appointments makes her one of Halifax's most sought-after voice teachers.
