Dr. Loraine Sims is the Edith Killgore Kirkpatrick Professor of Voice and Vocal Studies Division Chair at Louisiana State University School of Music. With a specialization in voice pedagogy, Dr. Sims is recognized nationally for her innovative work with transgender singers and inclusive vocal pedagogy. She has presented extensively at national conferences including NATS, NOA, and MTNA on topics such as 'Teaching Lucas: A Transgender Student's Vocal Journey' and 'Gender Neutral Voice Pedagogy.' Her students have won national and regional competitions and perform professionally in opera, concert venues, and teaching positions in educational institutions. She serves as a mentor through the NATS National Mentoring Collaborative and is known for her practical applications of spectrogram technology in voice instruction. Dr. Sims is committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment where all singers can develop their unique vocal potential.
