Lisa Layman
About
Lisa Layman is an accomplished operatic soprano, voice teacher, and acting coach with over 35 years of professional performance and teaching experience. She holds a Master of Music in Performance Certificate from Yale University and a Bachelor of Music from Texas Southern University. As an Adjunct Instructor of Voice at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania, she teaches voice courses at all levels (MUS 160/260/360/460). Her extensive operatic and oratorio career has included performances throughout the United States and internationally. Previously, she served on the voice faculty at SUNY Fredonia for eight years and directed the Western New York Chamber Orchestra. Lisa actively performs as a soloist and choral artist with the Cathedral of Saint Paul in Erie and with Transcendence, Erie's first professional choral ensemble. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes healthy vocal technique, artistic development, and performance confidence. She specializes in classical voice pedagogy, opera preparation, and art song interpretation.
