Lisa Browne Barksdale is a Lecturer in Music, Voice at Furman University in Greenville, SC, where she has taught for over 20 years. With more than 30 years of voice teaching experience, Mrs. Barksdale emphasizes expressive communication and healthy singing techniques. Her approach integrates the McClosky Technique, which combines relaxation with coordination of alignment and breath to promote healthy singing and speaking. She holds certification as a Master Teacher with the McClosky Institute of Voice and maintains a practice as a speech-language pathologist specializing in singing voice at Greenville ENT. A native of Macon, Georgia, she previously served as Junior High and High School Choral Director at Pace Academy in Atlanta and performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus for a decade.
Education & Qualifications
Master of Communication Disorders from University of South Carolina; Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Northwestern University; Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Furman University. Certified as Master Teacher with the McClosky Institute of Voice.
