Lauralyn Kolb is a renowned soprano and vocal instructor with extensive experience in classical voice training and performance. A lecturer in voice at Hamilton College for 38 years and faculty member at Colgate University for 19 years, she brings decades of expertise to her private studio teaching. Trained in the bel canto tradition with roots tracing through legendary sopranos Marcella Sembrich, Queena Mario, and Anna Hamlin, Kolb studied with Adrienne Auerswald at Smith College and Howard Swan at Occidental College. Her post-degree study continued with Auerswald and noted American soprano Helen Boatwright. She has performed extensively throughout the United States as a recitalist, oratorio and opera singer, appearing as a soloist with orchestras and chamber ensembles. Her professional recordings include works by Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, Clara Schumann, Poldowski, Amy Beach, and John Duke, released through prestigious labels including Centaur Records, Albany Records, and New World Records. As a former New York State Governor for the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), she maintains high professional standards in voice pedagogy and technique. Her former students have performed professionally throughout the US and Europe in operatic, musical theater, recital, and choral venues, demonstrating her comprehensive approach to vocal training across multiple genres.
