Laura Pritchard
About
Dr. Laura Pritchard is Assistant Professor and Associate Director of Opera at the University of Alabama School of Music. A mezzo-soprano, Dr. Pritchard is an active soloist, teacher, researcher, and stage director known for her versatility both onstage and in the classroom. She holds a BM from East Tennessee State University, MM from Shenandoah Conservatory, and DMA from University of Alabama, where she studied under Dr. Susan Williams. Dr. Pritchard made her professional debut in 2013 and has performed with companies including Asheville Lyric Opera and Opera Birmingham. In 2019, she made her international debut with the Berlin Opera Academy. Her operatic repertoire includes Carmen, The Elixir of Love, Die Fledermaus, Die Zauberflöte, and contemporary works like Adamos Avow. Dr. Pritchard specializes in vocal pedagogy, opera stage direction, and acting and movement for singers. She is a trainee with the Association for Body Mapping Education and was selected for the NATS Intern Program in 2023. She is a Semi-Finalist in The American Prize Art Song and Oratorio division and First Place winner in the Alabama Chapter NATS Advanced Classical Voice competition.
