Laura Brandt is the recipient of the 2025 Canadian Voice Pedagogy Award from the National Association of Teachers of Singing, recognizing her outstanding contributions to vocal education in Canada. She is a Calgary-based soprano, voice teacher, and member of the NATS Southern Alberta Chapter who serves as a vocal instructor at Mount Royal University Conservatory while maintaining a busy private studio, the Wildwood School of Music. Laura studied voice at Mount Allison University and the prestigious New England Conservatory, building a strong foundation in classical vocal technique and pedagogy. From 2013-2015, she was an Emerging Artist singer with Calgary Opera, gaining valuable professional performance experience that informs her teaching. As a performer, Laura has been hailed as a "tour-de-force" and a "powerhouse soprano" and has frequently performed with Calgary Opera in mainstage roles, summer festivals, school tours and donor events, demonstrating her versatility and vocal prowess. Her extensive performing experience combined with her advanced pedagogical training allows her to guide students effectively from beginning levels through professional preparation. At Mount Royal Conservatory and her Wildwood School of Music, Laura works with students of all ages and levels, emphasizing healthy vocal technique, musical artistry, and performance skills that prepare singers for university programs, competitions, and professional careers.
