Kyle Pfortmiller
About
Kyle Pfortmiller is a baritone voice faculty member at The Hartt School, University of Hartford. With an extensive operatic career, he made his Metropolitan Opera debut as the Marquis d'Obigny in La traviata during the 2010-2011 season and has performed extensively with opera companies throughout the United States. He was heralded as a voice that could give the great American baritone tradition of Robert Merrill. Pfortmiller holds a Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree from Illinois Wesleyan University. As a voice teacher, he maintains a private studio in New York City and holds faculty positions at Molloy University and Lehigh University in addition to his position at The Hartt School. Pfortmiller has given masterclasses at various institutions including Illinois Wesleyan University, University of Tulsa, and Loyola University. He was recognized with the 2014 Distinguished Alumnus Award from Illinois Wesleyan University and is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
