Kris Danford
About
Kris Danford is an Associate Professor of Voice and Speech at Penn State's School of Theatre. She is a certified Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework and maintains an active professional career as a voice, text, and dialect coach. Her professional coaching work includes prestigious theatres such as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, American Stage, and Urbanite Theatre. As a professional actor, Kris has appeared at regional theatres around the country, including Asolo Repertory Theatre, Riverside Theatre, and Ashland New Plays Festival. She is currently leading a multidisciplinary research study that utilizes theatre-based voice training as a potential tool for women in childbirth, with her research recently referenced in The New York Times. Kris came to Penn State from the University of Michigan and previously held appointments at Southern Oregon University, University of Iowa, and the University of West Florida.
