Kiera Duffy
About
Kiera Duffy is an Associate Professor of Voice at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, where she teaches voice and vocal pedagogy. An accomplished American soprano with an international opera and concert career, she is recognized for her gleaming high soprano, incisive musicianship, and arresting stage presence across an extraordinary range of repertory from Bach and Mozart to Schoenberg and Mazzoli. Previously, she was Professor of the Practice at the University of Notre Dame, where she served as Coordinator of Undergraduate Voice Studies and Creative Producer of Opera ND. She has performed with major orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, and Metropolitan Opera. Her research interests include evidence-based vocal pedagogy, cognition and motor learning theory, modern and contemporary repertoire, and mindfulness practices for the performing musician.
Education & Qualifications
Extensive studies in voice and piano with performances and training at leading institutions. Finalist in the 2007 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Recipient of a Sullivan Foundation grant (2008).
