Kenneth Shaw is a bass-baritone and Professor of Voice at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), where he has taught since 1999. Opera News praised his voice as "strong, impassioned and lyrical." With over 42 years of professional singing experience, Shaw has performed over 70 leading roles in more than 60 operas, as well as concerts and recitals across America, Southeast Asia, Brazil, Canada and the United Kingdom. Since winning New York City Opera's Richard F. Gold Award as Debut Artist of the Year in 1987, he has sung major roles with the company in Carmen, Don Giovanni, Madama Butterfly, and La traviata. Recent roles include Wotan in Das Rheingold, Timur in Turandot, and Rocco in Fidelio. As co-producer of the nationally awarded Opera d'arte, the CCM Undergraduate Opera, Shaw has helped shape the next generation of opera singers. His students have advanced to prestigious competitions and professional opera companies.
