Katie Cochrane
About
Katie Cochrane is the inaugural recipient of the Canadian Voice Pedagogy Award and a leading voice educator specializing in musical theatre and contemporary commercial music. She holds a Master of Music Theatre in Vocal Performance with an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from New York University Steinhardt, as well as a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Acadia University. Katie currently serves as head of voice and co-program director of the musical theatre programs at Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts in Halifax and teaches Vocal Pedagogy and Vocology at the Fountain School of Performing Arts at Dalhousie University, making significant contributions to voice education at multiple institutions. She is currently certified in Level I of Somatic Voicework™ the LoVetri method for Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) vocal technique, bringing cutting-edge pedagogical approaches to her teaching. As a trained soprano vocalist, Katie has performed roles including Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana (MCO) and has appeared at Carnegie Hall with Essential Voices USA, demonstrating her high-level performance skills. Katie teaches through her private online voice studio and in person at The Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts in Halifax, Nova Scotia, working with singers from beginner through professional levels across musical theatre, pop, and contemporary styles.
