Kathy Lollar is the owner and educational director of West Texas Music Academy in Odessa, Texas, serving the Midland-Odessa area. After a distinguished 30-year career as a public school music teacher in Odessa, Texas, Kathy founded West Texas Music Academy in May 2011 to continue her passion for music education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education, both from University of Texas of the Permian Basin, and maintains Texas all-levels music certification (K-12). Throughout her career, Kathy has been recognized for her excellence in teaching, receiving the Regional Secondary Teacher of the Year award in 2001. She has also served as Vice President of the Texas Choral Directors Association. As a voice and piano teacher, Kathy has maintained a private music studio for over three decades, teaching students of all ages in age-appropriate vocal development, breath control, note reading, and performing across a variety of repertoire. Her mission is bringing music education to children throughout the Permian Basin region, and she takes great joy in listening to children sing, watching them dance, and hearing them play.
