Katherine Jolly
About
Katherine Jolly is an Associate Professor of Voice at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and recipient of the Oberlin Conservatory Excellence in Teaching Award for 2020-2021. An accomplished soprano specializing in coloratura and soubrette roles, she is a winner of the 2006 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Grand Finals, about which The New York Times wrote: 'Katherine Jolly used her agile, bright lyric soprano to superb effect.' Jolly has appeared with major opera companies including Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Houston Grand Opera, Florida Grand Opera, New York City Opera, Virginia Opera, and Lyric Opera. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes physical and mental wellness, using yoga, dance, and mindfulness exercises to support solid vocal technique. She previously taught at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music and Saint Louis University.

DMA in Voice from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (2015), MM in Voice from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (2001), BM in Voice from Boston University College of Fine Arts (1999). Studied with Barbara Honn, Thomas Baresel, and Phyllis Hoffman.
