Katharina Acosta, known professionally as Kat Acosta, is an accomplished soprano and music instructor with a Bachelor degree in Vocal Performance from the T. Rome School of Music at the Catholic University of America. She brings five years of professional teaching experience to Naptown Sings and Plays, where she specializes in vocal technique, group performance, piano, and ukulele instruction. Katharina received her early music and theater training at the prestigious Duke Ellington School of Fine Arts in Washington, DC, and has been involved with the Young Victorian Opera Company and Opera AACC. She has performed extensively with the Maryland Lyric Opera, Bel Cantanti Opera, and AACC Opera, and was featured in premier works including Diarios de los Luchadores for the Hope Opera comedy series and the Cortical Titanic for the Capital Fringe Festival. Katharina is fluent in both English and Spanish and serves as a cantor and soprano chorus member at the National Shrine of the Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Washington, DC. She also serves as a wedding and funeral cantor at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Annapolis, Maryland. Her passion for music education is evident in her dedication to helping students develop strong vocal techniques and confidence as performers.
