About
Ms. Karen Young is an Instructor of Voice and Music at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. A versatile soprano, she received her M.M. degree in Vocal Performance from Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama where she studied with Dr. David Smith. Her operatic and musical theatre credits include Nedda in Pagliacci, Magda Sorel in The Consul, Suor Angelica, and roles in Madama Butterfly, Rigoletto, Man of La Mancha, and Jesus Christ Superstar. Karen has also performed as a jazz vocalist with the UAH Jazz Faculty Combo, demonstrating her versatility across classical and jazz genres. She brings extensive performance experience in both opera and musical theatre to her teaching at UAH.
