Karen Nuckles-Flinn
About
Karen Nuckles-Flinn is a voice teacher at Bellinghome School of Music in Bellingham, Washington. She grew up in the Pacific Northwest before relocating overseas with her military family at age 3, spending a decade in Japan, Okinawa, and Germany. Music served as her anchor through this transient childhood, becoming a way to express feelings she had no words for, an avenue for finding presence in herself, and a way to deeply connect with others. Her teaching journey has been diverse, instructing voice, choir, guitar, ukulele, and recorder across public schools, private institutions, and community programs. Notable achievements include directing a middle school choir that earned superior festival ratings for nine years and founding a community choir including students, parents, and teachers. She believes that if you can talk, you can sing, and emphasizes that musical self-expression represents an inherent human joy. Her teaching encompasses voice technique, performance coaching, group singing, and helping students discover their musical identity. She maintains that performance remains optional—participation itself provides fulfillment. Current projects include performing with Vox Pacifica choir and directing the Crooning Cronie Choir at Solstice Senior Living.
