Dr. Karen Murphy is the Coordinator of Collaborative Piano at Mississippi State University and serves as Organist/Choirmaster at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Starkville. An accomplished pianist, she is an active collaborative pianist and vocal coach who has performed with singers and choirs throughout the United States and abroad. She was the tour accompanist for the Phoenix Boys Choir, recording several CDs with them performing at venues such as the Washington Cathedral, Lake Chautauqua, and Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Dr. Murphy has served as a collaborative pianist and vocal coach for the Festival Internacional de Mรบsica de Campina Grande in Brazil, and is a collaborative pianist for state and regional NATS and MTNA competitions in the southwestern and southeastern regions. She is dedicated to the training and education of collaborative pianists and has premiered several new works by composers.

Education & Qualifications

Solo and collaborative performance degrees from Indiana University, Arizona State University, and the University of Minnesota. Completed doctoral studies in collaborative piano at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, where she was choir accompanist for St. Catherine University in St. Paul and premiered works.
