Karen Esquivel
About
Karen Esquivel is the Associate Teaching Professor of Voice and Director of the Opera Ensemble at the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance. As a contralto, she was born in the U.S.A. of a Costa Rican mother and Mexican father. She provides coaching to music performance majors and directs the UO Opera Ensemble, which offers training in acting, dance, interpretation, and singing roles in foreign languages. Esquivel has also served as a judge for opera competitions, including serving on a panel judging voice students at Portland State University. Her extensive background in opera production and vocal coaching makes her an invaluable resource for singers developing their performance skills.
