About
Kaley Caperton Higdon is the founder and director of The Vocal Academy of Waco, a comprehensive vocal training program for aspiring musicians aged 15 and older. A 31-year-old China Spring resident, Higdon has been performing for more than half her life on Waco stages and beyond. Her extensive career spans multiple genres including musical theater, country, gospel, jazz, pop, and classic rock. She has worked as a songwriter in Nashville and performed with country artists LeAnn Rimes and Craig Morgan. She led a role in the 2016 film "Color Me You" and composed music for the National Guard Youth Foundation. The Vocal Academy of Waco offers training in singing, songwriting, performing, studio recording, collaboration, and industry networking, with sessions held at Cultivate 7twelve, a downtown Waco art space at 712 Austin Ave. Higdon has built extensive industry connections with label heads, songwriters, producers and managers, and brings this real-world experience to her students. She is married to Taylor Higdon and they have three children. Glenn Beals, a noted Waco tenor and voice teacher, assists with voice training at the academy.
