Julie Wright-Costa is a Professor of Voice at the University of Utah School of Music, where she teaches private voice lessons to university students. She maintains an extensive performance career spanning opera, musical theatre, oratorio, and recital work. Ms. Wright-Costa served as a leading soprano with Ohio Light Opera for sixteen seasons and holds the position of Associate Artistic Director there. Her warm and flexible voice combined with strong dramatic acting skills account for her enthusiastic reception wherever she performs. She has appeared with numerous major opera companies including Chautauqua Opera, Utah Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre, and Cleveland Opera. She frequently performs as a soloist with major symphonies and has conducted stage direction for various opera productions. Her recordings appear on Albany, Operetta Archives, and Newport Classics labels, featuring operetta works by composers including Kalman, Sullivan, and Zeller. She resides in Salt Lake City with her husband, composer John Costa.
