Joyce Sylvester is an Instructor of Voice at the University of South Alabama's Department of Music. A soprano soloist with Mobile Opera, she has performed roles including Annina in La Traviata and Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly. Sylvester has performed with the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, Wheeling Symphony, and various choral societies. She studied internationally at Hochschule für Musik Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, where she performed as a professional singer with Landestheater-Salzburg and studied with Rudolf Knoll. She subsequently studied privately in Vienna with soprano Anne Rothgeb-Peschek. In addition to her university teaching, Sylvester founded Bella Voce, Mobile's Premier Women's Chorus, which performs classical concerts biannually. She also teaches voice at University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts as an adjunct instructor.
