Joshua Conyers
About
Joshua Conyers is a baritone and voice teacher on the faculty at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, with over 20 years of performing experience across prestigious venues including Washington National Opera, Seattle Opera, English National Opera, and Carnegie Hall. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from UNC School of the Arts, Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Indiana University Bloomington, and a Professional Artist Certificate from the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute. With 12 years of private voice teaching experience and 12 years of music outreach working with inner-city students across multiple states, Joshua brings extensive pedagogical expertise to his work. He served as a member of the Young Professionals Advisory Board of the Newark Boys Chorus School, demonstrating his commitment to music education and community engagement. Joshua's teaching philosophy emphasizes versatility, inclusivity, and the belief that every student deserves a safe space to explore and develop their voice, centering on three foundational pillars: proper breath function, healthy vocal production, and effective practice strategy. He tailors instruction to individual needs rather than following a single pedagogical path. Proficient in German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, and Latin, Joshua brings comprehensive language skills to his vocal coaching.
