Josey Poppin
About
Josey Poppin teaches voice and piano at Colors Fine Arts Center in the Huntsville area. She holds an M.M. in Vocal Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a B.M.E. in Music Education from University of Northwestern-St. Paul. Josey has been singing and playing piano from a young age and has performed throughout Minnesota, winning 1st-place awards in competitions including NATS and Thursday Musical. In Cincinnati, Josey performed roles including Meg in Verdi Falstaff and the mezzo-soprano soloist in the American premiere of Andrew Staniland operatic Dark Star Requiem. While in Huntsville, she performs with Opera Huntsville and other community groups. Over the last 10 years, Josey has taught private voice and piano, elementary school general music, and has experience directing secondary-level ensembles. Her diverse teaching methodology draws from experience in opera, musical theater, and contemporary worship.
