Joanne Abrom

About

Joanne Abrom is a highly accomplished vocal educator and professional soprano with over 40 years of performance and teaching experience. She began her professional recording and musical theater career at age 9, later touring nationally with the group Recreation across 38 states. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education (voice emphasis) from Susquehanna University and a Master's degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Arizona State University, with additional graduate coursework from Westminster Choir College, Millersville, and Berklee College of Music. Joanne is a K-12 music teaching certified instructor in both Pennsylvania and Arizona, and has received vocal coaching from internationally recognized instructors including Joyce Hall, David Britton, Claudia Kennedy, Richard Miller, and Sharon Sweet. She currently teaches approximately 100 students of all ages and abilities ranging from elementary school students to professional performers from her studio in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Her specialties include classical technique, musical theater performance, contemporary vocal production, vocal therapy, and audition preparation. Joanne is on the faculty of Sight and Sound's Conservatory as a Voice teacher and Singing for the Stage instructor, and serves as a professor for Eastern Mennonite University. She maintains an active solo performance career and has performed as a professional soloist for churches throughout the country, performed with the Phoenix and New Jersey Symphonies, and currently sings for banquets and political events. With her combined experience as both a performer and educator, Joanne is dedicated to developing well-rounded singers with strong technical foundations and the confidence to perform across multiple genres.
