Jessica Spafford
About
Dr. Jessica Spafford is a coloratura soprano who serves as Voice Area Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Music at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, specializing in Voice and Diction. She earned her doctorate in music performance, pedagogy, and literature from James Madison University in 2017 and her Master of Music degree from Duquesne University, where she studied with Sari Gruber. Other prominent teachers include Anne Kopta, Marilyn Nims, and Dorothy Maddison. Before joining TAMUCC, she served as department chair at both Judson College and Emory & Henry University, and did adjunct work at James Madison University, Mary Baldwin University, Bridgewater College, and Eastern Mennonite University while maintaining a full private voice studio. She has an active performing career internationally, having been recruited to sing the Queen of the Night with the Radebeul Landesbühnen Sachsen Theater in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in Dresden, Germany in June 2016. In March 2024, she conducted a masterclass tour in Europe at various locations in England and at the Frankfurt Conservatory of Music in Germany. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
