Jennifer Trost

Jennifer Trost is a Professor Emerita of Performance and Pedagogy (Voice) at Penn State University, where she taught voice, vocal literature, song literature, and opera literature courses. She is an accomplished soprano with an extensive international operatic career, having performed as a leading artist at major European opera houses. She spent four years as a leading soprano at the Wuppertal Opera in Germany and nine years as a featured soloist at the prestigious Bavarian State Opera in Munich. Her career as a soprano progressed from lyric soprano to young-dramatic soprano roles, performing works from the classical and romantic opera repertoire. She has collaborated with renowned conductors including Zubin Mehta and James Levine, and performed at prestigious venues across Europe and North America. Beyond her operatic performances, Trost has maintained an active recital career and earned recognition for her interpretations of lieder and art song. She contributed a chapter on vocal aging titled "Reinventing the Female Classical Voice After Menopause" to the professional publication "A Users Manual for the Aging Voice" by Martha Howe. Trost is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and the National Opera Association. Her teaching integrates extensive performance experience with pedagogical expertise in vocal technique, vocal literature, and the development of mature singers.
