About
Jennifer Lane is Professor of Voice in the Early Music and Vocal Studies departments at the University of North Texas College of Music, where she joined the faculty in 2007. A Grammy-nominated mezzo-soprano, Lane brings extensive teaching experience from Stanford University, University of Kentucky, Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, and prestigious summer programs at institutions including The Peabody Institute, San Francisco Conservatory, and Oberlin College. She has performed with major orchestras including the New York Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony, and appeared at venues such as Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Utah Opera, and Seattle Baroque Orchestra. Lane has collaborated with renowned conductors including Leonard Bernstein, William Christie, and Nicholas McGegan. Her impressive discography includes over 50 commercial CDs across labels including Harmonia Mundi USA, Naxos, and Koch International, with two of her recordings appearing in Deutsche Grammophon's 30-CD Stravinsky Complete Edition. She was nominated for a Grammy for her role as Athena in Milhaud's Orestie and was an ensemble member on the Grammy-winning Deutsche Grammophon recording of Mahler's Symphony No. 3 with the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Leonard Bernstein. Her students have won Metropolitan Opera National Council District Awards and gained acceptance to institutions including Eastman School of Music, Peabody, and Royal Academy of Music in London.
