Dr. Jennifer Griffith Cowgill is Associate Professor of Voice at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where she teaches applied voice, vocal pedagogy, and aural skills. She holds degrees from three prestigious conservatories: Oberlin Conservatory, Peabody Conservatory, and a Doctorate of Music from Florida State University. Before joining Marywood, Dr. Cowgill served as Associate Professor of Voice at the University of Alabama, bringing extensive academic and performance experience to her teaching. As a soprano, she has performed operatic roles including Pamina in The Magic Flute, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, and Hanna in The Merry Widow. She was a finalist in the International Camille Coloratura Competition and participated in prestigious summer programs at Chautauqua, Tanglewood, and Dicapo Opera. Dr. Cowgill is an active researcher and clinician, having authored work in the NATS Journal of Singing and presented research at the Voice Foundation conference in Philadelphia. Her expertise in vocal pedagogy is recognized internationally, including a recent faculty guest artist position at the Bassi Brugnatelli Conducting and Voice Symposium in Italy. She is dedicated to developing each student's unique voice while building strong technical foundations in breath support, tone production, and artistic interpretation.
