Jennifer Aylmer is an accomplished American soprano and Associate Professor of Voice at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Music, where she serves as Chair of the Voice Division. Recognized for her artistic excellence and technical precision by The New York Times for her 'awesome accuracy' and by the Chicago Sun-Times for her 'dazzling shifts from regal command to cool insouciance,' Aylmer maintains an active international performance career while developing the next generation of singers. A native of Long Island, she holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Westminster Choir College, and trained at the Juilliard Opera Center and Houston Grand Opera Studio Programs. Her Metropolitan Opera debut in 2005 as Bella in the world premiere of Tobias Picker's An American Tragedy launched a distinguished career performing with major orchestras and opera companies including the San Francisco Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, and National Symphony Orchestra. She has garnered acclaim for her extensive operatic repertoire spanning Handel, Mozart, Verdi, and contemporary composers across 30+ opera productions. Her students have secured positions with major opera companies including Lyric Opera of Chicago and Santa Fe Opera.
