Jeanne Fischer
About
Dr. Jeanne Fischer is a Teaching Professor and Area Head of Voice at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She holds a BA in Music and English from UNC-Chapel Hill, an MM and Artist's Diploma from London's Royal Academy of Music, and a DMA from the University of Maryland. Dr. Fischer directs UNC Opera and teaches studio voice and French/Italian diction. Her expertise spans classical vocal performance with particular emphasis on early music and baroque repertoire. She has performed with notable ensembles including the Smithsonian Chamber Players and Washington Bach Consort. Her recordings feature baroque works, and she has appeared at prestigious festivals in both the US and UK. Her honors include First Place in the Voce Young Soloists Competition and the Royal Academy of Music's Ethel Bilsland Award. Before joining UNC in 2006, Fischer taught at Shenandoah Conservatory. She maintains membership in the National Association of Teachers of Singing and Early Music America.
