Dr. Jeanie Darnell is Professor of Music and Head of Vocal Studies at Florida Gulf Coast University Bower School of Music & the Arts, where she has been a founding faculty member since 2006. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado-Boulder (2002). As one of three founding music faculty members at the Bower School, she has built a robust vocal program that today boasts more than 60 student vocalists pursuing degrees in music performance, music education, music therapy and general music. As a concert artist, Darnell has been hailed by critics for her wonderfully bell-like tones and has performed with numerous orchestras and opera companies throughout the United States and Europe. She lectures extensively on vocal pedagogy at national and international conferences and has dedicated her career to training the next generation of professional vocalists, educators, and music therapists. Her expertise encompasses classical vocal technique, opera performance, art song repertoire, and teaching methodology.
